MBI invites applications for a position of a PhD student to work on nonlinear terahertz spectroscopy of solids and biomolecular systems.
Such research is based on most advanced methods of multidimensional terahertz spectroscopy and addresses the dynamics of low-frequency excitations and field-driven processes. An infrastructure including sources of ultrashort terahertz pulses and setups for spectroscopic experiments is available in two optical laboratories, complemented by numerical codes and software for data analysis. The work will be performed in a team of senior researchers, postdocs, and PhD students.
Master or diploma degree in physics or physical chemistry. Strong background in at least two of the following areas: molecular physics, solid state physics, biophysics, molecular spectroscopy, ultrafast spectroscopy, nonlinear optics.
MBI offers a 3-year appointment with a salary according to the German salary scheme for the public sector (TVöD) (75%).
MBI is an equal opportunity employer, applications by female candidates are invited in particular. If equally qualified, severely handicapped persons are given preference. The successful candidate will have to enroll as a graduate student at Humboldt University Berlin.
MBI supports the reconcilability of family and working life and is certified as family-friendly by the "family audit".
Please upload your application with a cv, a description of the research experience, and - if available - recommendation letters electronically via the MBI online recruiting platform at http://www.mbi-berlin.de/de/jobs/index.html. The deadline for applications is December 3, 2018.
